The Atlanta Falcons are the first team to reach 100 percent vaccination against COVID-19 among players, according to the league. The NFL has stated its vaccination rate among players is north of 90 percent, but the coverage among teams varies.
The Falcons are well ahead of Georgia’s general population in terms of vaccination. According to the Mayo Clinic, 39.4 percent of Georgia’s population is fully vaccinated. It’s not yet clear whether the Falcons will require proof of vaccination or a negative COVID test for fans to enter home games this year.
According to NFL Network’s Judy Battista, 15 teams have a vaccination rate among players above 95 percent. With the milestone, the Falcons are no longer subjected to daily testing protocols and can relax restrictions surrounding team gatherings. It’ll be interesting to see how many teams follow Atlanta’s lead and reach 100 percent coverage.
According to DraftKings Sportsbook, the Falcons are +900 to win the NFC South behind the Tampa Bay Buccaneers and New Orleans Saints.
