UPDATE: The following Panthers are not dressing for the game, per Panthers.com: Sam Darnold, Christian McCaffrey, DJ Moore, Robby Anderson, Dan Arnold, Ian Thomas, Cameron Erving, Pat Elflein, Matt Paradis, John Miller, Taylor Moton, Brian Burns, Derrick Brown, DaQuan Jones, Morgan Fox, Shaq Thompson, Jermaine Carter, Haason Reddick, Donte Jackson, Jaycee Horn, Jeremy Chinn, and Juston Burris.
The Indianapolis Colts and Carolina Panthers face off in preseason action with both clubs retooling over the offseason. The Colts will attempt to get back to the playoffs with Carson Wentz at quarterback, while the Panthers hope to develop Sam Darnold into a franchise QB.
Quarterbacks
Indianapolis head coach Frank Reich said Jacob Eason will get more reps with Wentz injured, although Sam Ehlinger and Brett Hundley will also see snaps. For the Panthers, Matt Rhule announced Sam Darnold will not play on Sunday. PJ Walker and Will Grier will see the majority of snaps.
Running Backs
The Colts are going to cautious in this area, with Marlon Mack coming back from an injury and Nyheim Hines listed as questionable. Jonathan Taylor probably won’t see many reps, but Jordan Wilkins should. For the Panthers, Christian McCaffrey is unlikely to take part in preseason action. Chuba Hubbard and Reggie Bonnafon will be Carolina’s lead backs here.
Wide Receivers
T.Y. Hilton, Parris Campbell and Michael Pittman Jr. probably won’t see too much action, but Zach Pascal will probably get additional work. The Panthers probably won’t push their top two receivers DJ Moore and Robby Anderson, but rookie Terrace Marshall Jr. should play.
Tight Ends
Mo Alie-Cox is questionable, but starter Jack Doyle should see some action. The Panthers have to make a decision at tight end, meaning it’s likely Ian Thomas and Dan Arnold get significant reps.
