Report: ‘Decent chance’ Aaron Rodgers sits out 2021 season and is traded in 2022

Packers QB Aaron Rodgers is not happy and this situation may not end anytime soon.

Green Bay Packers quarterback Aaron Rodgers has skipped the team’s entire offseason program and decided to stay away from the team’s mandatory minicamp. That is not going to be the end of this situation. Packers beat writer Rob Demovsky told Rich Eisen on Friday that there’s a “decent chance” Rodgers sits out the coming season and the Packers trade him in 2022.

The Packers would seemingly get more draft picks dealing Rodgers now rather than a year from now, but they also would not know where the 2022 picks are sitting. Any deal would involve one or more first round picks, and knowing if that’s a top ten pick or a bottom ten pick is pretty significant.

Prior to the team’s June minicamp, all offseason workout activities were optional. The minicamp was the first required event Rodgers skipped, thus moving him officially into the holdout category. The Packers will open training camp in late July, at which point an absence would go from notable to a big deal.
