Report: Tyler Lockett to sign 4-year, $69.2 million contract extension

The Seattle Seahawks have given wide receiver Tyler Lockett a four-year contract extension worth $69.2 million, with a whopping $37 million in guaranteed money, per ESPN’s Adam Schefter. Lockett’s signing will keep him together with Russell Wilson and D.K. Metcalf, continuing one of the best passing attacks in the league.

Lockett was at times out-shined by sophomore receiver Metcalf in 2020, but his skill set is irreplaceable for the Seahawks. Lockett has been one of the more underated receivers in the league, as the Seattle offense hasn’t been pass heavy for the majority of his career. But Lockett has been extremely efficient with Wilson tossing him the ball.

Over the last three seasons, Lockett has averaged 80 receptions on 104 targets for 1,025 yards and nine+ touchdowns. He is 28-years old and hasn’t shown any signs of slowing down. This might be his last contract in his prime, but there’s little doubt he will be worth the money if he and Wilson can stay healthy.
