The New Orleans Saints are adding some veteran depth at running back with Tony Jones sidelined. The team is signing Lamar Miller to the practice squad, according to Adam Schefter.

Alvin Kamara is the clear No. 1 back in New Orleans, but their depth is hurting after Jones suffered an ankle injury in early October. He is likely out through most of the rest of the month. Dwayne Washington is Kamara’s backup with Devine Ozigbo also on the active roster. Miller will join Ryquell Armstead as options available for promotion to the active roster as needed.

Miller has spent time with the Dolphins, Texans, Patriots, Bears, and Washington. He tore his ACL in the 2019 preseason and missed the entire year. He signed with the Patriots in August 2020 and opened the season on the PUP list. He was released before the regular season began. He later signed with the Bears practice squad and was activated for one game. He signed with Washington in December and was released during 2021 training camp.
