Complete list of opponents for the Jacksonville Jaguars in 2021

The Jaguars have secured the No. 1 overall pick for the 2021 NFL Draft. We already have an early look at their 2021 needs and opponents.

The Jacksonville Jaguars were viewed as a rebuilding team from the very start of the 2020 season but surprisingly upset the Colts in their season opener. They didn’t win another game for the rest of the year and managed to beat out the Jets to finish with the worst record in the NFL. The Jaguars will get the first crack at the 2021 draft class and hope to get a franchise centerpiece, but will do so with a new head coach after Doug Marrone was fired at the end of the season.

Gardner Minshew showed enough promise as a rookie to steal the starting quarterback job from Nick Foles in 2019 but Doug Marrone preferred Mike Glennon over the second-year signal-caller after he returned from a thumb injury. The Jaguars have a versatile running back in James Robinson who exceeded expectations as an undrafted rookie in 2020 and a talented receiving corps that includes D.J. Chark and Laviska Shenault. A new quarterback could help them take a major step forward in 2021. It’s hard to believe the Jaguars could ever pass on drafting Trevor Lawrence or Justin Fields with the first pick in this year’s draft. It would be surprising if went in any other direction with the No. 1 overall pick.

2021 opponents

The Jaguars will face their AFC South divisional opponents six times, half at home and half on the road. In addition, they draw matchups against all for teams from the AFC East and NFC West. The NFL is expected to add a 17th game to the regular season schedule that will feature an inter-conference matchup with a similarly placed team. The Jaguars would face the NFC South.
