The Los Angeles Chargers have relieved head coach Anthony Lynn of his duties following the team’s regular-season finale. The team announced the news Monday morning following the close of a 7-9 regular season.

Lynn spent several years working as a running backs coach with Jaguars, Cowboys, Browns, Jets and Bills. He was eventually promoted to offensive coordinator and assistant head coach for the Buffalo Bills in 2016 after head coach Greg Roman was fired. He worked his way up to the interim head coach role with the firing of Rex Ryan.

Lynn was named the head coach for the newly relocated Los Angeles Chargers for the 2017 season with a stellar cast of offensive weapons in Philip Rivers, Keenan Allen, Melvon Gordon and Antonio Gates. The team went 21-11 in his first two seasons as head coach but has since taken a turn for the worse, sitting with an 12-20 record through the 2019 and 2020 NFL seasons.
