Will the Browns-Steelers game play as scheduled in Week 17?

Friday update: The Browns didn’t have any new positive tests on Friday, which will allow the team facility to open and for the team to practice, per Mary Kay Cabot.

The Cleveland Browns are currently dealing with multiple COVID-19 positive tests that could impact their Week 17 matchup with the Pittsburgh Steelers. On Thursday there were two positive tests, per ESPN’s Adam Schefter. The team has been dealing with positive cases over the last couple weeks, as they were without all of their starting wide receivers against the Jets in Week 16.

This outbreak has come at a bad time for the Browns, who are trying to get into the playoffs. Last week they were noticeably hurt by the absence of Jarvis Landry and Rashard Higgins. The team should get those players back as early as Thursday, but practice is on hold once again due to these positive tests.

The team could still practice on Thursday if contact tracing clears the rest of the team. At this point, it would see their game against the Steelers is still on as scheduled. The names of the new positives have yet to be announced. Those players will be out this week, and depending on their importance to the team, could impact the Browns chances of defeating a Steelers team that will also be missing multiple players due to them resting for the playoffs.
