Free agent defensive lineman Jadeveon Clowney has been linked to many teams of late, but the New Orleans Saints seem to be especially interested. We’ve now had two reports of the Saints going all out to sign the star defensive player. Both Tom Pelissero of NFL Network and ESPN’s Dianna Russini had similar reports:
The New Orleans Saints are all in on landing Jadeveon Clowney. Sources tell me they are sending a member of their coaching staff to Houston, where Clowney lives to meet and discuss why New Orleans is the best spot.

The #Saints are sending an all-out blitz to try to sign Jadeveon Clowney, who has spoken multiple times to coach Sean Payton, sources tell me and @RapSheet. At least two other teams still involved as Clowney's extended free-agent saga nears a close.

The Saints are in Super Bowl or bust mode, as they have a stacked team and an againg Hall of Fame quarterback to lead them in Drew Brees. Brees’ window of top-tier ability is starting to close while fellow old-man QB Tom Brady has joined their NFC South rivals, the Tampa Bay Buccaneers. The Bucs are also in Super Bowl or bust mode with a similarly stacked team and just added Leonard Fournette to their backfield. The Saints best chance to get back to the championship game is to win their division and get home field advantage, which means beating the upstart Buccaneers and Clowney could make an already strong defense pretty scary for opposing quarterbacks.
