Good lord! The Cincinnati Bengals somehow found a way to baptize rookie Joe Burrow in the way of the Bengal. The rookie quarterback impressed in his debut and looked like he had drive the Bengals into position to force overtime. Instead, Randy Bullock came on and missed a 31-yard field goal about as badly as he could.
Joe Burrow threw for 193 yards and an interception, while rushing for 46 yards and a touchdown. On the surface, that looks fairly mediocre, but Burrow impressed in near-winning drive to close the game.
The Bengals started at their own 18 with 2:18 to go. Two minutes later, the Bengals were at the Chargers 13 and attempting to punch it in. The Bengals set up 1st and goal and Burrow appeared to connect with A.J. Green for a game-winning touchdown. However, Green was called for offensive pass interference and the touchdown was nullified.
That set up 1st and goal at the 13 with 7 seconds left. Bullock came out for the 31-yard attempt, and this was the result. Welcome to the Bengals, Joe Burrow.
