Jaguars stun Colts, shake up Survivor pools in Week 1

The Jaguars are not here to listen to your tanking talk. They stunned the Colts and shook up NFL Survivor pools in Week 1.

The NFL world thought the Jacksonville Jaguars were tanking for Trevor Lawrence in the 2021 NFL Draft. Not so fast!

The Jaguars stunned Philip Rivers and the new-look Indianapolis Colts in Week 1, winning 27-20. Rivers produced significant volume in his Colts debut, but threw two interceptions and only found the end zone once. The ground game struggled with Marlon Mack leaving with what might be a torn Achilles, as Nyheim Hines and Jonathan Taylor stumbled to less than four yards per carry between the two of them.

The Colts defense was a disappointment after an offseason of some big additions. Gardner Minshew was impressive in his efficiency and the Colts struggled to get stops. Minshew completed 19 of 20 passes and had three touchdowns on the day in the victory.

This is big for the Jaguars, but it also is big for NFL Survivor pools. The Colts were a popular pick this weekend, in the top two or three for most bigger pools. And with this loss, a whole host of folks are eliminated. If you picked the Colts in a double-elimination pool (as I did for one pool), you at least remain alive for another week. But, this is not how you wanted to start the season.
