Cincinnati Bengals starting running back Joe Mixon’s migraines have miraculously cleared up after signing a 4-year, $48 million extension, per NFL Network’s Ian Rapoport. Mixon had been missing practice due to “migraines” while looking for a new contract. After that contract was signed, Mixon appears to be readying himself for practice at the moment.
Mixon was a workhorse to end last season and made a case for this extension as he rushed for 1,137 yards and caught 35 passes for 287 yards while finding the end zone eight times. The deal isn’t going to blow the socks off the running back market, but it is in line with the market for upper tier backs right now.
Mixon had to grind out his yards last season playing with a below average quarterback and offensive line. Things are looking up with Joe Burrow at the helm now, so Mixon might not have all the defensive attention directed on him. And now we can feel good about him not missing any games due to a holdout.
