Running back Derrius Guice was arrested on Friday on domestic violence-related charges, and Washington announced it was releasing him, according to the Washington Post.
Guice is being charged with one count of strangulation, three counts of assault and battery, and one count of destruction of property. The strangulation charge is a felony, a Loudoun County Sheriff’s Office spokesperson told the Post. The arrest revolves around allegations of assaults on February 14, March 13, and April 17 at Guice’s home in Ashburn, Virginia.
Washington drafted Guice in the second round of the 2018 NFL Draft. He tore his ACL in the preseason that summer and missed the season. He returned in 2019, but ore his meniscus in the season-opener. He returned midway through the season, but then sprained his MCL in December and sat out the remainder of the season.
