UPDATE: NFL Network is reporting Bryant is expected to travel to Baltimore for a workout with the Ravens.
Free agent wide receiver Dez Bryant has not played in an NFL game since 2017, but he is attempting to get back into the league. Bryant has spoken with the Baltimore Ravens and other teams about a workout, according to reporter Josina Anderson.
Bryant has been out of the NFL since ending the 2018 season on the New Orleans Saints’ injured reserve. The Dallas Cowboys had released him the previous offseason and Bryant signed with New Orleans in November. Two days after signing he tore his Achilles tendon during practice without playing a down for the team.
In his final season in Dallas, Bryant caught 69 passes for 838 yards and six touchdowns. His career had peaked from 2012 to 2014 when he averaged 91 receptions, 1,311 yards, and 13 touchdowns per season.
Marquise Brown tops the Ravens receiver depth chart, while tight end Mark Andrews was the top overall pass catcher. The team will look for more from Brown after he spent much of his rookie season injured, but they need some more depth at receiver. Miles Boykin, Willie Snead, and Chris Moore are among the players behind Brown. Bryant’s skill-set has likely faded considerably, but a little depth wouldn’t hurt.
