San Francisco 49ers roster updates from training camp

NFL training camp is underway and rosters will be pared down to the 53-player maximum. We’ll break down the moves as the San Francisco 49ers sort out their roster decisions.

NFL training camp is under way and that means news will start flowing from each team. How that news will be distributed in the time of Covid-19 restrictions is still to be seen, but news will get out one way or the other. We’ll take that news and give you our fantasy and betting analysis. And that news and analysis, including roster moves, injuries, all the way to hype videos, will be disseminated right here, on this very page for the San Francisco 49ers.

San Francisco made moves this offseason, like trading for Trent Williams, trading away Matt Breida, hopefully getting Jerick McKinnon back after two years away, and losing Joe Staley to retirement. But, overall they’ve kept their Super Bowl team intact and will look to make another run at the hardware this season.

Player News

High fantasy/betting impact

* Deebo Samuel was placed on the PUP list and will have trouble being cleared for the start of the season due to his foot injury. — July 28

Samuel’s absence will help Brandon Aiyuk, Jalen Hurd, Trent Taylor and Kendrick Bourne earn more snaps in training camp and early in the season.

Low fantasy/betting impact

* Signed Dion Jordan — August 8

Jordan will join a stout pass rush that needed some depth after trading DeForest Buckner. If he makes the roster, Jordan will serve in a situational pass rush role.

* Signed OT William Sweet, C Spencer Long
