Arizona Cardinals roster updates from training camp

NFL training camp is underway and rosters will be pared down to the 53-player maximum. We’ll break down the moves as the Arizona Cardinals sort out their roster decisions.

NFL training camp is under way and that means news will start flowing from each team. How that news will be distributed in the time of Covid-19 restrictions is still to be seen, but news will get out one way or the other. We’ll take that news and give you our fantasy and betting analysis. And that news and analysis, including roster moves, injuries, all the way to hype videos, will be disseminated right here, on this very page for the Arizona Cardinals.

The biggest offseason move for the Cardinals is the acquisition of all world wide receiver DeAndre Hopkins. Add that to quarterback Kyler Murray coming into his second year with the offense and expectations are high for the passing game.

Player News

High fantasy/betting impact

*Signed S Buddah Baker to four-year extension

Arizona made a commitment to defense by making Baker the highest-paid safety in the history of the NFL. Locking him down alongside Isaiah Simmons and Patrick Peterson could help the Cardinals improve after finishing as a bottom five defense in 2019.

Low fantasy/betting impact

* Signed CB DreKirkpatrick — August 23

* Signed CB Ken Crawley — August 21

* Signed S Kentrell Brice, WR Andre Patton — August 5

* Signed OG Koda Martin — August 4

* Offensive lineman Marcus Gilbert opted out of the season. — August 4

He missed all of last season to a torn ACL but would have been a factor if healthy this season. This puts more pressure on rookie Josh Jones to start Week 1 and perform well.

* TE Maxx Williams activated off NFI list — August 4

He’s the likely starting tight end, but Kliff Kingsbury does not use the position all that extensively so he is looking at more of a blocking role.
