Jaguars say they’ll seat 25 percent of stadium capacity for 2020 home games

Florida is seeing a spike in Covid-19 cases over the past month, but the Jacksonville Jaguars think they can still get some amount of fans in the stands this fall. The team announced on Friday they “will be able to seat approximately 25 percent of its capacity at each Jaguars home game in 2020.”

Plenty can change, but given the Covid-19 spike in Florida, this is certainly a bold announcement. They did announce fans will be required to wear face coverings and the organization is working with Ticketmaster to figure out develop a new seating chart that provides for social distancing.

We are still two months away from the start of the 2020 regular season, but there is also still the potential for a preseason home game in August. The league is hoping to cut the preseason schedule in half, although the NFLPA is pushing to cancel all four weeks of preseason football.

Regardless, if Florida’s caseload continues to grow heading into August, one has to wonder if the Jaguars will change their plan, or even if the league might step in to mandate fanless games.
