Buccaneers top Giants in a thrilling overtime Madden simulation — 4/2/20
After a relatively uneventful four quarters, the Giants kicked a late FG to put this game into OT tied at 10-10. However, the Bucs wasted no time in OT, as Jameis Winston ($10,000;16.58 DKFP) hit Mike Evans ($10,600; 24.1 DKFP) for a deep bomb to win the game, 16-10. Evans topped 100 yards on the play, which was his fifth catch of the game. Evans was the key ingredient in the Captain’s spot for the winning lineup, scoring 36.15 DKFP. Chris Godwin ($8,400; 15.2 DKFP) also had a solid game, bringing in a touchdown earlier in the game. The Giants’ offense was quiet, led by Evan Engram’s ($7,800; 11.8 DKFP) five receptions for 68 yards.
Minshew Mania helps Jaguars past Giants in Madden simulation — 4/8/20
Gardner Minshew ($10,000; 15.8 DKFP) threw a pair of touchdowns for the second straight sim — this time hitting Dede Westbrook ($6,200; 22.6 DKFP) for both scores. While first place was shared in the free contest, Westbrook’s 33.9 DKFP in the captain spot came at just 2.9% ownership. Leonard Fournette ($8,400; 16.7 DKFP) also kept the offense rolling on the ground for the Jags, gaining 74 yards with a touchdown, adding on a pair of receptions. The Giants were able to move the ball, though, as Saquon Barkley ($9,200; 19.7 DKFP) rushed for 68 yards and a touchdown and Darius Slayton ($5,200; 19.2 DKFP) caught five passes for 112 yards.
Giants edge Redskins in Madden simulation– 4/12/20
In a simulation that was incredibly similar to the Week 16 matchup between these two teams, New York took down Washington in a 37-34 barnburner this afternoon. Daniel Jones ($10,200; 36.5 DKFP) appeared to be the biggest beneficiary of DraftKings shift to eight-minute quarters, as the rookie QB almost proved to be unstoppable in the victory. Jones threw for 326 yards and three touchdowns, while he also ran in another score. The Redskins’ passing attack was just as potent, with Dwayne Hawkins ($10,400; 32.7 DKFP) tossing four touchdowns of his own, two of which were hauled in by the talented Terry McLaurin ($8,800; 36.4 DKFP). We’ll see if these fireworks continue throughout the day.
Curtis Samuel slices up the Giants’ secondary– 4/18/20
This was a big breakout game for Samuel ($6,800) since he had been playing poorly for the Panthers in the Madden sims prior to today. Averaging well under 10 DKFP, he busted out with over 100 receiving yards and 23.1 DKFP. Outside of his performance, there wasn’t a ton of fantasy production since the Panthers beat the Giants by a final score of 14-9. Held without a touchdown, the only player from the Giants with a decent fantasy outing was Saquon Barkley ($8,800). He put up 18.8 DKFP, mostly due to hauling in six passes with the Giants throwing the ball late to try to catch up. As a chalk play, Christian McCaffrey ($10,400) was a massive bust, finishing with just 6.9 DKFP.
Lions defeat Giants in Wednesday’s simulated matchup — 4/22/20
The Lions edged the Giants in their simulated contest, winning 22-17. Kerryon Johnson ($7,800, 14.40 DKFP) was productive on the ground, rushing for 84 yards and a touchdown. Matt Prater ($3,800, 14 DKFP) provided some cheap production by making three field goals (one of which was over 50 yards) and an extra point. For the losing squad, Darius Slayton ($5,800, 27.10 DKFP) paced the Giants with six catches for 91 yards and two touchdowns.
Saquon Barkley and the Giants stomp the Cardinals, 28-0 — 4/25/20
In one of the most lopsided simulations since Arcade Mode was activated, the Giants improved to 2-4 on the virtual season by dismantling the visiting Cardinals, 28-0. Barkley ($11,000; 41.3 DKFP) lived up to his hype and delivered two long touchdowns, one rushing and one receiving while piling up 150 yards on the ground and 83 yards as a receiver. Daniel Jones ($10,800; 22.88 DKFP) also had a big game, throwing for three of the Giants’ touchdowns and finishing with 272 passing yards. Sterling Shepard ($3,000; 10.9 DKFP) and the Giants DST ($3,600; 13 DKFP) were great value options, as nothing went right for Kliff Kingsbury’s squad, which failed to score a single point.
Darius Slayton and the Giants walk off winners over the Bengals — 4/27/20
In a game full of fantasy goodness, Slayton ($6,800; 25.5 DKFP) came on late with two touchdowns, including a long touchdown in overtime to give the Giants a 37-31 win over Cincinnati. He finished with 98 yards, just short of the 100-yard bonus. Both QBs were good plays as Andy Dalton ($9,800; 33 DKFP) and Daniel Jones ($10,400; 27.16 DKFP) each threw for four touchdowns while Tyler Boyd ($7,600; 37 DKFP) had two TDs and 140 yards, most of which came in the first half. In the second half, John Ross III ($4,800; 20.7 DKFP) stepped in as Dalton’s go-to option and finished with a good game of his own with 87 yards and a touchdown that tied the game and sent it to overtime.
Antoine Bethea seals Giants’ overtime win with one-handed interception — 5/2/20
This game had one of the more exciting endings we have seen for a Madden simulation. After the Giants got ahead in overtime with a field goal, the Chargers got the ball back with a chance to either tie or take the lead. They did neither as a spectacular interception by Bethea had the Giants walking off as winners. Despite throwing the eerily realistic game-losing pick, Philip Rivers ($11,200; 26.36 DKFP) still had a strong fantasy game with over 300 passing yards. On the New York side of the game, Evan Engram ($8,000; 31 DKFP) torched the Chargers. He had a game-high 130 receiving yards and scored a touchdown.
Browns bounce back with win over Giants — 5/4/20
After being shut out in back-to-back Madden simulations, Cleveland got back on track by beating the Giants 24-22. This was a rare game where the running backs dominated on both sides. For the Browns, Nick Chubb ($9,200; 26.9 DKFP) led the team in scoring. He rushed for over 100 yards and a pair of touchdowns. On the New York side, Saquon Barkley ($9,400; 26.3 DKFP) did a little bit of everything, scoring twice and four catches. He’s been one of the top performing backs in Madden and is one of the only trustworthy guys at the position to regularly pay up for.
Saquon Barkley leads Giants past Falcons in Madden sim — 5/7/20
Barkley ($9,400; 23.7 DKFP) was an extremely popular play at 77.1% ownership, but a necessary one, rushing for 100 yards and a touchdown, along with three receptions for 17 yards. Saquon was 29.9% owned in the captain slot, but the 35.55 DKFP were still required in the 183-lineup tie for first place in the showdown contest. Daniel Jones ($10,000; 12.48 DKFP) also hit Sterling Shepard ($4,800; 15.4 DKFP) for a touchdown in the 17-10 victory. Russell Gage ($3,400; 24.9 DKFP) was still tremendous value for the Falcons, finishing with four grabs for 119 yards and Atlanta’s lone touchdown.
Chiefs hold on to defeat Cowboys in Madden simulation — 5/9/20
Prescott ($11,000; 39.46 DKFP) had one of the best fantasy performances we have seen so far in Madden. He rushed for over 100 yards and also tossed three touchdowns in a 35-14 blowout win over the Giants. His primary receiver this evening was Randall Cobb ($4,800; 27.5 DKFP). The third receiver on the team’s depth chart, Cobb caught two touchdowns and finished with over 100 receiving yards. On the ground, Ezekiel Elliott ($9,600; 22.9 DKFP) was also able to eat. With Dallas grinding the clock out late, Zeke rushed for over 100 yards to help seal the win.
Giants eek out a win in Tuesday’s simulation — 5/12/20
Darius Slayton ($5,600; 21.5 DKFP) dominated in an otherwise slow 16-12 simulated win over the Bears Tuesday. Slayton’s eight catches for 105 yards made him the highest-scoring DFS option, and by a hefty margin. If you missed out on Slayton, you probably didn’t do so well, though some combination of fellow Giants Saquon Barkley ($9,800; 14.8 DKFP) and Golden Tate ($9,000; 13.6 DKFP) and Bears QB Mitch Trubisky ($10,800; 13.56 DKFP) might have been enough to keep a roster afloat. Barkley logged 57 yards and a TD on the ground, while Tate tallied 26 yards and TD through the air. Trubisky threw for just 124 yards, but he saved his day with his rushing production: 26 yards and a TD.
A.J. Brown and Derrick Henry come up big at Titans power past Giants– 5/15/20
The Titans-Giants matchup didn’t seem set up to be a high-scoring contest, but both teams came out strong with the Titans earning a 31-20 win in our first simulation on Friday. Derrick Henry ($9,600; 23.3 DKFP) lived up to his “Freight Train” X-Factor powering his way for 132 rushing yards and a touchdown. He got lots of help from A.J. Brown ($8,000; 28.6 DKFP) as well who had 126 yards and a touchdown on his eight catches. In a losing effort, Daniel Jones ($10,400; 22.12 DKFP) and Golden Tate ($9,200; 26.4 DKFP) had solid games but Saquon Barkley ($10,000; 4.6 DKFP) struggled badly against a Titans DST keyed in on stopping the Giants’ star RB.
Saquon Barkley unstoppable in win over Raiders– 5/18/20
In an overtime win, Barkley ($9,600; 30.7 DKFP) was the hero for the Giants. He ripped up the Raiders’ defense for 155 rushing yards and scored a pair of touchdowns to lead New York to a win. Barkley carried the offense with Daniel Jones ($10,200; 17.5 DKFP) only able to muster 185 passing yards. Despite losing, the Raiders turned in some strong value plays in this game. The best of which was Zay Jones ($4,600; 26.8 DKFP), who caught a pair of touchdowns and helped keep the Raiders in the game.
Vikings’ DST dominates the Giants– 5/20/20
It’s not often we have seen a DST lead a showdown slate in DKFP. This evening, the Vikings’ DST ($3,400; 21 DKFP) was able to accomplish the feat. In a 24-13 win over the Giants, Minnesota racked up three sacks, forced four fumbles and scored a touchdown. This is about as good as we have seen a defense play in Madden. Overall, this wasn’t a game with a ton of fantasy production. The next best fantasy option was Evan Engram ($8,200; 17.2 DKFP). With the Giants playing from behind, he pulled in five catches for 62 yards and a touchdown.
Steelers seal win over the Giants with a safety– 5/23/20
Leave it to the Giants to find an interesting way to lose a simulated football game. When they got the ball down 27-24 with just about two minutes left in the game, it looked like New York was going to have a good chance to take the lead or force overtime. Instead, Daniel Jones ($10,400; 18.88 DKFP) was sacked in the end zone, effectively ending the game. Diontae Johnson ($3,800; 28.5 DKFP) was a standout performer in the Steelers’ win. He had over 100 receiving yards and caught a pair of touchdowns to lead the game in fantasy production. He was a big reason that Ben Roethlisberger ($11,000; 30.3 DKFP) was able to throw for over 300 yards.
Alshon Jeffery puts away Giants in 21-17 win — 5/28/20
Jeffery ($9,400) hasn’t been the most reliable receiver for the Eagles during the sim season but he showed up in a big way in Thursday’s win for the Eagles. Making five receptions, Jeffery went for 110 yards and scored two touchdowns, good for 31 DKFP in the FLEX and 46.5 in the captain spot. At only 2.6% ownership in the captain spot, it was no surprise to see him in the winning lineup, which two people tied for first with 118.52 DKFP. On the losing side, Golden Tate ($9,000) continued his strong sim season, making four receptions for 60 yards and a touchdown while scoring 17.5 DKFP in the process.
Five field goals for Stephen Hauschka is the difference in win over Giants– 5/30/20
It’s not often that we can highlight a kicker as the star of a game. In this game, Hauschka ($4,000; 18 DKFP) was the hero for the Bills. He sent all five of his field goal attempts through the uprights as the team struggled to get the ball across the goal line. Buffalo’s only touchdown came courtesy of a run from Josh Allen ($10,800; 20.86 DKFP). For the Giants, Daniel Jones ($10,600; 18.8 DKFP) amassed 295 passing yards in the loss. Just like in real life, a fumble from Jones was a huge issue for New York. His rookie season was filled with turnover woes.
Jets squeak past Giants in Madden simulation– 6/5/20
Well, that was an utterly forgettable simulation. We got the battle of New York on Friday afternoon with the Giants and Jets squaring off and, four underwhelming quarters later, it was the latter than emerged with a 10-7 victory. Still, despite the win, there weren’t exactly a bunch of Jets’ assets lighting up the DraftKings’ scoreboard. In fact, aside from Sam Darnold ($11,000; 12.6 DKFP), the only really notable performance was by the Jets’ D/ST ($3,600; 9.0 DKFP), which finished the stream with three sacks and an interception. On the Giants’ side, Golden Tate ($8,800; 13.5 DKFP) was the guy to own, as he registered the team’s lone touchdown.
Giants hold on to defeat Seahawks in Madden simulation– 6/8/20
Seattle’s secondary has been picked apart lately and it hasn’t exactly been by the quality of QB you’d expect. The likes of Gardiner Minshew and Ryan Fitzpatrick have managed huge DFS performances within the matchup and you can now add Daniel Jones’ ($9,200; 30.7 DKFP) name to that odd list. The rookie was near perfect on Monday night, completing 24 of his 25 passes for 323 yards and four touchdowns. His main target? Well, that would be none other than Darius Slayton ($5,800; 43.6 DKFP), who was unstoppable. The wideout went bonkers with seven catches for 156 yards and three scores of his own. Strangely enough, it was the first time in 12 simulations that Slayton found the end zone.
