Bears edge Lions in Madden simulation — 4/2/20

Despite being listed as the RB2 on Chicago’s depth chart, it was Tarik Cohen ($4,600; 26.1 DKFP) – not David Montgomery ($7,000; 3.1 DKFP) – who went off in this afternoon’s Madden simulation. In fact, the diminutive back scored the game-winning touchdown in the Bears’ 23-17 OT victory over Detroit. Maybe it was a mistake by the AI or maybe the CPU was aware of Chicago’s recent struggles kicking clutch field goals, but the Bears chose to hand it off to Cohen at the seven-yard line instead of attempting a short field goal. Either way, it turned out to be the correct decision. Cohen finished with 91 scrimmage yards and five catches, while T.J. Hockenson ($6,600; 17.7 DKFP) led the way for the Lions with six catches, 57 yards and his own TD.

Lions hold off Cardinals in dramatic fashion in Madden simulation — 4/7/20

This game had the potential to go into the half scoreless until a couple of strange plays late in the second quarter. The Lions actually faked a FG, with the placeholder hitting a lineman for a touchdown. Pharoh Cooper ($1,000; 6.7 DKFP) followed that up by returning the ensuing kickoff, but he was just 0.3% owned in the showdown contest. The return did help the 16% that did roster Cardinals D/ST ($4,000; 9 DKFP), though. Both QBs were held in check at high ownership — Matthew Stafford ($10,800; 12.22 DKFP) found the end zone once and Kyler Murray ($10,200; 11.04) saved a bad day with 48 late rushing yards. Detroit’s WRs were the real story — Marvin Jones ($7,800; 15.7 DKFP) caught a late TD and Kenny Golladay ($9,800; 16.6 DKFP) hauled in seven passes for 96 yards. The Cardinals had a chance to force OT, but missed a kick in the final seconds to lose, 17-14.

Lions hold on for 21-19 win over the Raiders on Sunday afternoon Madden Stream — 4/11/20

TThe Raiders gifted the Lions three points just before halftime with a penalty on a Hail Mary, but then the defense stiffened and Matthew Stafford ($10,200; 19.28 DKFP) threw two more touchdowns in the second half to lead them to a 21-19 win. The Raiders scored a late touchdown and had a two-point conversion attempt that fell short when Derek Carr ($10,000; 18.08 DKFP) threw an inaccurate bullet pass. The fantasy star of the game was Raiders TE Darren Waller ($8,400; 35.7 DKFP), who hauled in nine passes for 177 yards and a touchdown. As a Captain’s Pick, Waller delivered a massive 53.55 DKFP and led the winning lineup which also included Kenny Golladay ($9,600; 26 DKFP), who had five catches for 105 yards and a touchdown.

Redskins can’t keep up with Marvin Jones Jr., lose to the Lions, 31-17 — 4/19/20

Washington fell to 0-4 with their loss to the Lions in a Madden Stream contest on Sunday afternoon. Jones ($7,600; 43 DKFP) dominated with four receiving touchdowns along with 94 receiving yards on nine catches. He caught all four touchdown tosses from Matthew Stafford ($10,800; 26.04 DKFP), who had a big game of his own. The Lions got out to a big lead early and held off a Redskins’ rally attempt that helped Trey Quinn ($3,800; 15.8 DKFP) and Paul Richardson Jr. ($5,800; 11.6 DKFP) bring back decent value. Lions WR3 Danny Amendola ($4,800; 10.3 DKFP) was also involved as Detroit moved to 3-1 in their four simulated games.

Lions defeat Giants in Wednesday’s simulated matchup — 4/22/20

The Lions edged the Giants in their simulated contest, winning 22-17. Kerryon Johnson ($7,800, 14.40 DKFP) was productive on the ground, rushing for 84 yards and a touchdown. Matt Prater ($3,800, 14 DKFP) provided some cheap production by making three field goals (one of which was over 50 yards) and an extra point. For the losing squad, Darius Slayton ($5,800, 27.10 DKFP) paced the Giants with six catches for 91 yards and two touchdowns.

Panthers struggle to get anything going against the Lions — 4/28/20

The first game of Tuesday’s slate wasn’t exactly a hit. The Lions beat the Panthers 20-6 and Carolina produced almost nothing fantasy wise. This was another spot where a star running back struggled, as Christian McCaffrey ($10,800) finished with just 8.3 DKFP and 26 rushing yards. Instead, it was the Lions’ third down back, J.D. McKissic ($2,600), who was a difference maker in this contest. Without much ownership, he had four catches for 77 yards and finished with a game-high 13.6 DKFP. Aside from McKissic, Kerryon Johnson ($7,000; 11.2 DKFP) and Matthew Stafford ($11,000; 12.04 DKFP) were the only players to go over 10 DKFP.

Bengals grind out a Madden victory over Lions despite a huge sim for Kenny Golladay — 4/30/20

This was an ugly 19-14 win for Cincinnati, which was led by the kicking game. Randy Bullock ($4,200; 17 DKFP knocked in four field goals plus an extra-point on the Bengals’ lone touchdown — a rushing TD by Joe Mixon ($8,800; 12.2 DKFP). Kenny Golladay ($9,600; 29.8 DKFP) stole the show in the sim, though, posting a 5-151-1 line. Golladay was captained at 6.6% and dropped 44.7 DKFP in the winning lineup. Matthew Stafford ($11,000; 16.62 DKFP) threw a pair of touchdowns in the losing effort, with the other going to T.J. Hockenson ($6,400; 9.6 DKFP).

Jaguars beat Lions, 19-14, in a battle of the big cats — 5/2/20

The Jaguars got a late touchdown from D.J. Chark Jr. ($9,400; 11.7 DKFP) and edged out the Lions, 19-14, in Saturday’s second Madden Stream. Chark had a solid game as the Jaguars’ WR1, but Kenny Golladay ($10,200; 19.2 DKFP) also had a touchdown and 82 yards for an even bigger game as the Lions’ WR1. Each RB1 also had a touchdown, with Leonard Fournette ($8,600; 19.4 DKFP) finishing agonizingly close to the 100-yard bonus with 99 yards rushing along with 15 yards on two catches. Kerryon Johnson ($8,400; 7.8 DKFP) had the other touchdown for Detroit, while James O’Shaughnessy ($6,400; 16.1 DKFP), Josh Lambo ($3,800; 7.0 DKFP) and Marqise Lee ($4,400; 10.2 DKFP) were key value plays from the Jaguars.

Jakeem Grant’s big game not enough as Dolphins come up short against Lions– 5/4/20

Grant ($3,600; 32.1 DKFP) did everything for the Dolphins this afternoon, turning in one of the best value performances we have seen in our Madden simulations. Miami scored two touchdowns and Grant scored them both. One was a receiving score and the other was a kick return touchdown. In addition, he went for over 100 receiving yards. Unfortunately for the Dolphins, nobody else produced anything of value. Matt Stafford ($11,400; 20.14 DKFP) threw for over 300 yards and his primary target was Marvin Jones ($8,400; 15.1 DKFP), who hauled in six catches for 91 yards.

Browns’ passing game comes alive in overtime win — 5/6/20

The final score of this game was 33-27, so there was plenty of production to go around. The biggest game came from David Njoku ($7,000; 31.2 DKFP). The tight end was one of two Browns’ receivers to go for over 100 yards. The other was Odell Beckham Jr.($10,400; 29.4 DKFP), which shouldn’t come as a surprise. He’s been a monster in the DraftKings Madden simulations and is one of the top-scoring fantasy players. With big games from pass catches, Baker Mayfield ($10,200; 29.04 DKFP) had one of his best games. He had three touchdown passes and 376 yards through the air. In the loss, T.J. Hockenson ($6,400; 16.7 DKFP) was the top fantasy producer on the Lions. He caught a touchdown and had 57 receiving yards.

T.J. Hockenson goes hog-wild as the Lions beat the Jets, 19-12 — 5/9/20

The Lions went to Hockenson ($6,800; 34.5 DKFP) early and often as the TE hauled in 12 passes for 135 yards and the team’s only touchdown of the day. The rest of their points came on four FGs from Matt Prater ($4,000; 16.0 DKFP), who hit a 50-plus yarder, a 40-plus yarder and a pair of short kicks. Matthew Stafford ($11,400; 13.78 DKFP) finished with 252 yards through the air, but only one passing TD. The best player on the Jets was Robby Anderson ($9,200; 17.7 DKFP), who hauled in the one touchdown New York scored as part of his four catches for 77 yards. The Lions improve to 7-5 in their 12 sims while the Jets drop to 6-6.

Marvin Jones leads Lions past Cowboys in Madden sim — 5/12/20

Matthew Stafford ($10,800; 21.2 DKFP) tossed three touchdowns in the 27-17 Lions’ victory, with two of those scores going to Jones ($7,600; 24.7 DKFP). Jones made the most of his five touches, catching four passes for 83 yards, and dropping 37.05 DKFP at 9.1% ownership in the Captain’s slot. T.J. Hockenson ($6,400; 14 DKFP) also hauled in six receptions for 80 yards. Dak Prescott ($10,400; 18.08 DKFP) produced both touchdowns for the Cowboys in the losing effort, hitting Jason Witten ($6,600; 14.6 DKFP) and Randall Cobb ($3,800; 13.7 DKFP).

Now and Prater: Lions’ kicker boots four FGs in win over Bucs– 5/16/20

The Lions knocked off the 10-win Bucs in Tampa Bay behind a big game from their kicker, Matt Prater ($4,200; 16 DKFP). Prater knocked in four FGs ,including one with just seconds left, to give Detroit the narrow 18-17 win. The Lions relied mostly on Danny Amendola ($5,000; 17.9 DKFP) as a receiver, and the slot option hauled in four catches for 79 yards and Detroit’s only touchdown of the day. For the Bucs, Jameis Winston ($10,600; 14.04 DKFP) also had just one passing touchdown and one interception while focusing mostly on O.J. Howard ($6,600; 29.5 DKFP), who was the Captain’s Pick in most of the lineups who finished in the money.

Phillip Lindsay and the Broncos stomp Lions in Madden sim — 5/18/20

Lindsay ($9,200; 41.1 DKFP) dominated the 45-13 victory for Denver, rushing for 129 yards and three touchdowns, tacking on three receptions for another 42 yards. Lindsay was 6.3% owned as a captain, and the obvious piece you needed the 1.5X bonus from — 61.65 DKFP. Noah Fant ($6,200; 15 DKFP) caught three passes for 60 yards, including Denver’s only passing touchdown. Marvin Jones ($7,800; 13.6 DKFP) had the only touchdown for the Lions, who were barely able to move the ball.

Steelers grind past Lions in Madden sim– 5/20/20

This was an ugly one that the Steelers pulled out 10-8 at home in the snow. Even with Pittsburgh coming out on top with such a low score, Kenny Golladay ($10,200; 23.4 DKFP) stole the show. Golladay accounted for the majority of Detroit’s offense with eight receptions for 92 yards, including the team’s lone touchdown. His effort was much needed at just 3.4% owned in the captain’s spot on the winning lineup, racking up 35.1 DKFP in that spot. Vance McDonald ($6,800; 17.1 DKFP) was the top performer for the Steelers, despite a fumble, catching 10 passes for 81 yards. James Washington ($5,600; 10 DKFP) scored Pittsburgh’s only touchdown, coming through as a strong value yet again. As you’d imagine with so few points, Steelers D/ST ($3,800; 14 DKFP) came though with five sacks and and turnover.

Rams top the Lions with balanced attack– 5/23/20

The Rams did a bit of everything in this game. They held Detroit to 10 points and Jared Goff ($10,000; 16.8 DKFP) peppered a variety of receivers with targets. This meant that there wasn’t one player that really stood out. Robert Woods ($7,400; 20.4 DKFP) led the game in fantasy points with seven catches for 74 yards. Brandin Cooks ($7,000; 16.1 DKFP) also had a solid game, amassing 51 yards and scoring a touchdown. In the loss, T.J. Hockenson ($6,200; 17.5 DKFP) played a key role for the Lions and scored their only touchdown.

Derrick Henry finally comes through in 29-20 win over Lions– 5/29/20

It hasn’t been often that Henry ($9,400) has been worth paying his hefty salary for, as he entered this game averaging just 8 DKFP with 53.8 rushing yards and five touchdowns. Anyone who took the chance on him Friday afternoon was handsomely rewarded, as he went off for 151 rushing yards and two touchdowns. 8.3% took him in the captain spot in the Showdown contest, which nets them 45.1 DKFP while anyone who flexed them saw 30.1 fantasy points. Marvin Jones Jr ($7,600) had a solid game for the Lions, making seven receptions for 118 yards and a touchdown, good for 27.8 DKFP.

Led by Carson Wentz and Zach Ertz, the Eagles go to the air and fly past the Lions — 5/31/20

The Lions got off to a fast start with a touchdown from Kerryon Johnson ($7,800; 13.7 DKFP) on their first play from scrimmage, but they struggled after that allowing the Eagles to cruise to a 28-14 win. Carson Wentz ($11,000; 27.66) threw for three touchdowns and 309 yards while Zach Ertz ($8,600; 36.7 DKFP) had a monster game with 11 catches for 107 yards and two of those scores. Alshon Jeffery ($9,400; 15 DKFP) had the other score while the Eagles’ DST ($3,200; 5.0 DKFP) recorded their first safety of the sim season. For the Lions, there was little production aside from the long run by Johnson at the start.

Kerryon Johnson leads Lions to simulated win over Bills– 6/2/20

The Lions’ 24-17 simulated win over the Bills Tuesday yielded plenty of good fantasy performances, but few great ones. Johnson ($8,800; 18.2 DKFP) fared the best, catching a 55-yard TD for his only reception on top of 57 yards of rushing. Matt Stafford ($11,200; 17.72 DKFP) was the game’s next-leading scorer, with a run-of-the-mill 193 passing yards and two TDs. Meanwhile, the Bills were led by WR Rueben Foster ($3,400; 16.9 DKFP) and RB Frank Gore ($2,600; 13.8 DKFP), each of whom scored once.

Matt Prater’s big day leads Lions to double OT win over Saints in Madden sim– 6/4/20

The Lions got just two touchdowns in their 26-23 double OT victory at the Super Dome. Kenny Golladay ($8,800; 24.1 DKFP) and Marvin Jones ($7,000; 24.3 DKFP) had great games, each reaching the end zone, but the rest of the points came off the leg of Prater ($4,200; 17 DKFP). Prater hit all four of his field goals, including from over 50 yards, and both his extra points. Jared Cook ($6,800; 29.7 DKFP) led the way for the Saints with a 10-107-1 line, good for 44.55 DKFP as CPT of the winning lineup.

Colts edge Lions for 24-21 win starting Monday’s slate — 6/8/20

The Colts got a late touchdown from Eric Ebron ($7,200; 16.7 DKFP) and held on for a three-point win over the visiting Lions. He hauled in a touchdown and five catches on his way to 57 yards. That was one of two passing touchdowns for Jacoby Brissett ($10,200; 16.56 DKFP), who threw the other score to Chester Rogers ($1,800; 14.3 DKFP), who was a key value play. T.Y. Hilton ($9,800; 13.2 DKFP) also had a strong game with 80 yards but was held out of the end zone. From the “Any Given Simday” category, backup QB Brian Hoyer even had a touchdown for the Colts on a fake field goal.
