Browns defeat Ravens in Madden simulation — 4/6/20

Well, at least Lamar Jackson ($11,400; 18.2 DKFP) didn’t throw three interceptions this time, right? The reigning MVP was far better than his first simulated contest last week, yet it was still wasn’t enough, as Cleveland took down Baltimore 21-14 on Monday night. Mark Andrews ($7,800; 19.6 DKFP) turned out to be the beneficiary of Jackson’s modest success, hauling in six passes for 76 yards and a touchdown. However, the Browns also received a few big performances from pass-catchers. Odell Beckham Jr. ($9,600; 19.2 DKFP) collected 72 yards through the air and a touchdown, while Damion Ratley ($3,000; 14.3 DKFP) emerged as the key value play with a touchdown reception of his own.

Browns defeat Bengals in Wednesday’s early simulated game — 4/8/20

The Browns pulled out a 27-21 overtime win against the Bengals in their 1:00 p.m. ET simulated matchup, partially thanks to two rushing touchdowns from Kareem Hunt ($4,500; 18.90 DKFP), who was in the Captain’s spot in many top lineups. It was also a big afternoon for Odell Beckham Jr. ($9,400; 25.30 DKFP) and Baker Mayfield ($10,600; 17.04 DKFP), although neither were as good of a bargain as Hunt was. On the losing side, A.J. Green ($8,000, 15.40 DKFP) tallied 36 receiving yards and a touchdown on five receptions while also chipping in eight rushing yards.

Kalen Ballage and the Dolphins run away from Browns in OT, 23-17 — 4/13/20

The Dolphins knocked off the previously undefeated Browns in Cleveland after a long overtime touchdown run by Ballage ($6,600; 16.3 DKFP), who finished with a solid 93 yards on the ground. DeVante Parker ($9,200; 22.1 DKFP) had another huge game, putting up 22.1 DKFP with a touchdown and over 100 yards receiving. He was the Captain’s Pick in the winning lineup and 17.4% of lineups. Ryan Fitzpatrick ($9,600; 17.9 DKFP) and Mike Gesicki ($7,200; 11.6 DKFP) also had solid games for Miami, while former Dolphin Jarvis Landry ($8,000; 16.7 DKFP) had seven catches for 97 yards for the Browns. Both Damion Ratley ($3,200; 12.1 DKFP) and Jakeem Grant ($3,400; 11.3 DKFP) both provided good value from their WR3 spots.

Odell Beckham leads Browns past Raiders in Madden simulation — 4/15/20

Beckham ($10,200; 49.4 DKFP) silenced Wednesday’s trade rumors (virtually) by going off against the Raiders. OBJ finished with a 10-184-3 line, and while he was 57.8% owned on the showdown slate, he was captained in just 9.7% of lineups — where he dropped an insane 74.1 DKFP. He accounted for nearly all of Baker Mayfield’s ($10.400; 23.28 DKFP) production through the air, helping carry Brown’s stacks. David Njoku ($7,000; 13.3 DKFP) essentially had the rest of the yards, catching six passes for 73 yards. Zay Jones ($5,000; 16.2 DKFP and Darren Waller ($7,200; 17.5 DKFP) caught the two touchdowns for Oakland.

Baker Mayfield strong, but Jags top Browns, 38-31 — 4/21/20

Mayfield ($10,800; 32.36 DKFP) threw all four touchdowns for the Browns, topping the 300-yard mark. Mayfield hit four different pass-catchers for the scores, but it was Damion Ratley ($3,400; 18 DKFP) that proved to be the top value, posting a 3-90-1 line. Jacksonville got a huge game from a name we’ve seen pop up in trade rumors heading into the NFL Draft, as Leonard Fournette ($8,400; 24.8) rushed for 128 yards and a TD. The unlikely hero on the slate was James O’Shaughnessy ($5,800; 25 DKFP), who posted a 6-70-2 line, providing the winning lineup with 37.5 DKFP in the captain spot.

Courtland Sutton crushes Browns in Madden simulation Saturday afternoon — 4/25/20

The Broncos went into the Dawg Pound and beat the Browns, 28-21, behind a massive game from Sutton ($9,200; 38.9 DKFP), who only had four catches but took three of them to the house on his way to 139 yards. FS Justin Simmons also had a big game for the Broncos DST ($3,800; 8.0 DKFP) picking off Baker Mayfield ($11,000; 19.32 DKFP) three times, all of deflections. Mayfield had a solid game other than that, throwing for 258 yards and three touchdowns. One was to Demetrius Harris ($1,400; 7.1 DKFP), who was a great value play and allowed the winning lineup to pay up for TEs David Njoku ($7,200; 13.5 DKFP) and Noah Fant ($6,600; 12.5 DKFP), who had strong games.

Browns narrowly defeat Chargers in Madden simulation — 4/28/20

What a performance from Nick Chubb ($9,200; 28.5 DKFP). Coming into this afternoon’s matchup with Los Angeles, it wasn’t all that shocking to see Cleveland’s starting running back with an ownership of just 16.2%. To be blunt, Chubb had managed absolutely nothing in recent streams, rarely even reaching the 50-yard rushing plateau. Well, all that changed in a 30-24 OT victory. Chubb was a dominant force, racking up 118 yards on the ground and two touchdowns. Odell Beckham Jr. ($10,000; 31.1 DKFP) was also seemingly unstoppable for the Browns, as he’d finish with nine catches, 112 receiving yards and his own TD.

Buccaneers shutout Browns in Madden simulation — 4/30/20

What a strange game. Though it wasn’t surprising in the least to see Jameis Winston ($10,800; 21.2 DKFP) collect three total touchdowns in Tampa Bay’s win over Cleveland, the final score of this simulation sticks out like a sore thumb. Few teams have been shutout since DraftKings made the switch to Arcade Mode; yet, at the end of four quarters, the Browns had zero points. Most disappointing was the play of Odell Beckham ($9,600; 8.3 DKFP), who managed just three receptions in the 21-0 loss. Worst of all? All three of those catches came on Cleveland’s final drive in garbage time. The 38.7% of people that captained Beckham are probably not too happy right now.

Browns fail to score for the second consecutive game — 5/2/20

The video game Browns are starting to resemble the real life Browns. The offense appeared to be clicking on all cylinders until the past couple of games. After losing 21-0 to the Buccaneers, Cleveland fell, 17-0, to the Cardinals. This was a brutal showing when considering that Arizona ($3,200; 12 DKFP) does not have a good defense. There was very little fantasy production to go around in this game due to the low scoring. The only real notable performance came from Kyler Murray ($10,200; 20.28 DKFP) who ran in both of the Cardinals’ touchdowns.

Browns bounce back with win over Giants — 5/4/20

After being shut out in back-to-back Madden simulations, Cleveland got back on track by beating the Giants 24-22. This was a rare game where the running backs dominated on both sides. For the Browns, Nick Chubb ($9,200; 26.9 DKFP) led the team in scoring. He rushed for over 100 yards and a pair of touchdowns. On the New York side, Saquon Barkley ($9,400; 26.3 DKFP) did a little bit of everything, scoring twice and four catches. He’s been one of the top performing backs in Madden and is one of the only trustworthy guys at the position to regularly pay up for.

Browns’ passing game comes alive in overtime win — 5/6/20

The final score of this game was 33-27, so there was plenty of production to go around. The biggest game came from David Njoku ($7,000; 31.2 DKFP). The tight end was one of two Browns’ receivers to go for over 100 yards. The other was Odell Beckham Jr.($10,400; 29.4 DKFP), which shouldn’t come as a surprise. He’s been a monster in the DraftKings Madden simulations and is one of the top-scoring fantasy players. With big games from pass catches, Baker Mayfield ($10,200; 29.04 DKFP) had one of his best games. He had three touchdown passes and 376 yards through the air. In the loss, T.J. Hockenson ($6,400; 16.7 DKFP) was the top fantasy producer on the Lions. He caught a touchdown and had 57 receiving yards.

Patriots squeeze past Browns in Madden simulation — 5/10/20

Did we not switch to Arcade Mode more than a month ago? Did we revert back to six-minute quarters when no one was looking? Whatever the case may be, we all just witnessed an absolute snooze fest between New England and Cleveland. In fact, we didn’t get our first touchdown of the game until the dying seconds of overtime. In any case, the Patriots were the ones to walk away with a 12-9 victory. Ben Watson ($6,400; 15.8 DKFP) was the highest scoring fantasy asset, but really only because someone technically had to be. The veteran tight end would finish with eight catches for 78 yards. It was not pretty.

Nick Chubb ices Eagles in second simulated OT– 5/12/20

Chubb ($9,600; 27.3 DKFP) broke three tackles on a 73-yard TD that gave the Browns a 37-31 win over the Eagles Tuesday. The NFL might want to take note of this simulation’s exciting ending – two OTs is better than a tie! The walk-off TD got Chubb to 170 rush yards for the game, but most of the production here came through the air. Baker Mayfield ($10,600; 33.2 DKFP) threw for 340 yards and four TDs, while the Eagles’ Carson Wentz ($10,800; 31.32 DKFP) threw for 408 yards and three TDs. Mayfield’s top targets were Damion Ratley ($3,400; 24.2 DKFP), who caught two TDs, and Odell Beckham ($10,200; 27.8 DKFP), who caught 138 yards and one TD. Wentz completed 153 yards and two TDs to Alshon Jeffery ($8,800; 36.3 DKFP).

Seahawks beat the Browns in OT, 26-20– 5/15/20

This Madden simulation went into an extra period, but it was Seattle who prevailed over Cleveland. Russell Wilson ($11,200) led the way for the Seahawks, throwing for two scores and rushing for another. He scored 29.58 DKFP. For the Browns, Kareem Hunt (CPT; $4,500) was an active receiver, catching four balls for 84 yards and a touchdown. His 31.35 DKFP in the Captain spot was a fabulous value. The rest of the winning lineup contained Baker Mayfield ($10,400), Odell Beckham ($10,200), David Njoku ($7,000) and Will Dissley ($6,600). It was a 25-way tie for first.

Browns defeat Texans in Madden simulation — 5/19/20

I think it goes without saying, but sometimes these Madden simulations are completely unpredictable. In this instance, let’s focus in on the performance of Jarvis Landry ($7,000; 18.5 DKFP). The former second-round pick had an amazing afternoon in Cleveland’s 24-17 victory over Houston, but that doesn’t mean it made a lot of sense. Coming into Tuesday, Landry had racked up just three touchdowns despite having 52 total receptions. Well, this afternoon, he made his way into the end zone twice, though he’s only catch three passes total. Still, owners of Landry and Baker Mayfield ($10,200; 23.8 DKFP) won’t be complaining any time soon.

Panthers hold Browns to FGs, win 21-16 — 5/22/20

In this Madden simulation, Carolina defeated Cleveland, 21-16. Christian McCaffrey ($10,200) led the way for the Panthers, scoring two touchdowns and finishing with 19.9 DKFP. For the Browns, David Njoku (CPT; $9,900) topped the charts, going over 100 yards receiving on eight catches. He scored 33.9 DKFP in the Captain slot. The Browns produced plenty of yards in this game, but ultimately could only find the end zone once, and that was the difference in the outcome. The rest of the winning lineup contained Baker Mayfield ($10,600), Jarvis Landry ($7,200), Curtis Samuel ($5,400) and Kareem Hunt ($3,000). It was a solo winner.

Damien Williams helps Chiefs rally for 38-31 win over the Browns — 5/25/20

The Browns scored touchdowns on their first four possessions and led at one point 21-10, but as he often does in real life, Patrick Mahomes ($11,000; 28.38 DKFP) rallied his team for the 38-31 win. Mahomes threw for 347 passing yards and two scores while Williams ($7,800; 36 DKFP) ran for three touchdowns and 92 yards while adding three catches for 38 more yards. Odell Beckham Jr. ($9,800; 33.7 DKFP) also had three touchdowns for the Browns, but they were all in the first half. OBJ finished just short of the bonus with 97 yards. There was plenty of scoring across the board in this one, but the Browns offense stalled in the second half and allowed the Chiefs to get the win at virtual Arrowhead.

Ted Ginn Jr. catches in a pair of touchdowns in snowy Cleveland — 5/27/20

Both the Browns and Saints struggled to score in the snow game, but the 21-17 low-scoring win for the Saints didn’t mean there weren’t good fantasy performances. Ginn ($5,000; 19.6 DKFP) was the player of the game, hauling in three catches for 46 and scoring two of the Saints’ three touchdowns. This game also had three players go for over 100 receiving yards. Odell Beckham Jr. ($10,200; 18.4), Jared Cook ($7,200; 19.3 DKFP) and Michael Thomas ($10,800; 17.8 DKFP) all hit the bonus in this one. David Njoku ($6,400; 18 DKFP) was another solid fantasy performer with 70 yards and a touchdown.

Jets stay hot in Madden sim victory over Browns– 5/29/20

After destroying the Ravens in their last sim, the Jets got the best of the Browns, 14-11. Sam Darnold ($10,400; 14.38 DKFP) tossed a pair of touchdowns, with Robby Anderson ($8,800; 18.6 DKFP) leading the way with a 5-76-1 line. Le’Veon Bell ($9,000; 18.7 DKFP) dominated the ground game, rushing for 108 yards and catching two passes for another 29 yards. The Browns got almost zero production on offense, as David Njoku’s ($8,000; 14.2 DKFP) 72 yards were the highlight.

Browns defeat Steelers in Wednesday’s simulated matchup– 6/3/20

The Browns earned a close win over the Steelers in their simulated contest, 20-17. Baker Mayfield ($10,600, 18.82 DKFP) finished with 273 passing yards and two touchdowns to help earn the victory. Although the Steelers lost, Ben Roethlisberger ($11,000, 21.48 DKFP) threw for 362 yards and a touchdown. Diontae Johnson ($4,800, 23.10 DKFP) provided plenty of value with three catches for 111 yards and a touchdown.

Packers crush Browns in Madden simulation– 6/5/20

In a game that was pretty one-sided, Davante Adams ($10,600; 29.2 DKFP) was the star performer for Green Bay. The wideout registered nine catches for 112 yards and a touchdown, helping lead the Packers to a commanding 34-10 victory. Seriously, this one was never even close, as Green Bay got out to a quick 14-0 lead thanks to rushing touchdowns from both Aaron Jones ($7,800; 14.5 DKFP) and Jamaal Williams ($2,600; 13.4 DKFP). In fact, for the latter RB, it was the first time he’d ever exceeded 10.0 DKFP in one of these simulations. As for Cleveland, David Njoku ($6,800; 11.9 DKFP) salvaged a disappointing evening with a meaningless fourth quarter TD of his own.

49ers embarrass Browns in Madden simulation — 6/7/20
Chalk is sort of an accepted part of Showdown contests, but, even knowing that, Tevin Coleman’s ($7,800; 22.8 DKFP) ownership for this afternoon’s tilt between San Francisco and Cleveland was insane. The running back was 36.6% owned in the Captain’s slot. That’s right. Over a third of lineups featured Coleman at 1.5x value and, to be fair, they were justified in doing so. For the ninth time in these simulations, Coleman surpassed the 100-yard rushing bonus, leading the 49ers to an easy 31-10 victory. Emmanuel Sanders ($9,600; 22.4 DKFP) was equally impressive, racking up six receptions for 82 yards and a touchdown.

Redskins outlast Browns in Madden simulation– 6/9/20
Well, that simulation couldn’t end soon enough. In a contest that initially had the potential to be a barnburner, Washington would eventually take down Cleveland by an underwhelming final tally of 13-10. Believe me when I say that noteworthy DFS performances were pretty few and far between in this one. Heck, while Derrius Guice ($6,600; 6.9 DKFP) was able to register the Redskins’ lone touchdown of the afternoon, he was otherwise limited to just nine yards rushing. It was that kind of day. Even top-scorer Jarvis Landry ($7,000; 15.8 DKFP) didn’t find the end zone until the Browns’ final offensive play of the game.
