On Wednesday, the NFL sent out a memo saying that coaches could return to their facilities with a maximum of 100 employees allowed to return, per NFL Network’s Ian Rapoport. It’s a start, but it still looks like players won’t return until training camp.
Colts head coach Frank Reich told the Indy Star’s Joel Erickson on Tuesday, “At this point right now, I’m not thinking the coaches are coming back. Without the players there, we’re in a rhythm and a mode where we don’t think we need to disrupt that.”
So, the move toward opening facilities is a piece of the puzzle for returning to NFL football, but isn’t likely to change much for the moment. The biggest move here is getting Covid-19 protocol’s in place, which is a good step toward returning.
At the moment, the only team who won’t be able to return to their facilities due to local restrictions are the San Francisco 49ers, according to Rapoport.
