Jamal Adams has asked to be traded from the New York Jets, and suitors likely will be lining up for the All Pro safety. Adams has expressed interest in going to the Dallas Cowboys and Tampa Bay Buccaneers, while Adam Schefter reports Adams would also like to go to the Ravens, Texans, Chiefs, Eagles, 49ers, and Seahawks. The Jets have said they won’t actively shop him and haven’t let his agent pursue trades as of yet.
The most recent report has the 49ers actively pursuing the safety and that the process is “picking up steam,” per Sports Illustrated’s Grant Cohn. Cohn doesn’t believe a deal is imminent, but there’s no doubt the 49ers would be ecstatic to get one of the best safeties in the game right now.
Adam’s is upset the Jets tried to trade him last season and wants out while the Jets are likely going to stand pat unless they get a strong deal. Adams still has two years on his rookie deal but wants to renegotiate after playing at an All Pro level. He doesn’t have any leverage, but making noise in the media is a strategy that will at least get the Jets wanting to keep him quiet.
