Report: Ezekiel Elliott among several Cowboys, Texans players test positive for Covid-19

“Several” players on the Cowboys and Texans, including Ezekiel Elliott, have tested positive for Covid-19, per Ian NFL Network’s Rapoport. We don’t know specific names, but according to Rapoport, none of the players have been in their team facilities and all health protocols have been followed. Elliott reportedly feels good and the team doesn’t appear to have any concern for his health at this point.

Elliott wasn’t pleased that his personal health information was leaked, tweeting:

HIPAA, or, the Health Insurance Portability and Accountability Act, requires the protection and confidential handling of protected health information.

The NFL’s chief medical officer, Dr. Allen Sills, previously said: “We fully expect that we will have positive cases that arise. Our challenge is to identify them as quickly as possible and prevent spread to any other participants.” It appears the league will try to squash all transfer of the virus, but they realize that 100 percent success is impossible.

Texas has seen a recent surge in cases and this news comes soon after six University of Houston athletes tested positive for Covid-19. We will likely hear more cases pop up as we head toward training camp, so team protocols will be tested. If they can keep carriers of the virus out of their facilities and keep it from spreading, the NFL should continue as promised. At this point we will just wait to see if all 32 teams can keep a handle on the virus.
