Tom Brady sneaks in a workout with his new teammates in Tampa on Tuesday

The Bucs new quarterback is getting ready for his golf match in Hobe Sound this weekend by spinning the ball with his new wide receivers and skill position guys

Much has been made of Tom Brady’s rental of “St. Jetersburg” from Derek Jeter upon his arrival to the Tampa Bay Buccaneers. But he headed across town Tuesday morning at the crack of dawn to get in a social distance-questionable practice in with some of the skill position players on his new team.

Joey Knight and Rick Stroud of the Tampa Bay Times found Tom Brady and some teammates at Tampa’s Berkeley Prep this morning getting in a workout from 7-9 a.m. on the chichi private school’s synthetic turf field.

Brady appeared to be the one organizing the route combinations and situational drills that Bucs receivers, tight ends and running backs ran for about 120 minutes Tuesday.

At times, like he did with receiver Mike Evans, Brady would walk through the route, showing players exactly where to make their cuts.

Brady’s arm looked live and he took advantage of the large collection of pass catchers to also get in some work on deep routes. Among those attending the practice were receiver Scotty Miller, tight ends Cameron Brate and O.J. Howard, quarterbacks Blaine Gabbert and Ryan Griffin, and running back Dare Ogunbowale.

After about an hour, the Bucs moved into the red zone area near the end zone on the east side of the practice field.

Then it was time for some coming out passing drills, simulating the offense back up deep in their own territory.

It appears some good old-fashioned shoe leather led to the reporters finding the location of the practice. But it also shows how eager Brady is to get started with his new crew, even though he’ll be heading across the state this weekend for The Match with Tiger Woods, Phil Mickelson, and Peyton Manning.

If anyone is questioning Brady’s motivation, him heading past the airport at the crack of dawn to spin it in the middle of a global pandemic when no one would blame him for sitting at home until the all-clear is given should be an answer.

But for now, we’ll see if the players head back to their spot... or if now they’ll have to find a new location for the secret meetups.
