The Falcons joined the Bucs in unveiling new uniforms for the 2020 season.

The Atlanta Falcons were planning on unveiling a new set of uniforms next week, but a Tuesday afternoon leak pushed that up. The team unveiled the uniforms on Twitter and will put them on sale next week.

The Falcons join the Tampa Bay Buccaneers in unveiling new uniforms in the NFC South. The Bucs went with a similar look to what they sported through the early part of the new century. The Falcons changed to something that is a big move away from what they’ve traditionally worn. Opinions are strong about new uniforms, and it’s safe to say there will be some strong opinions about the Falcons new duds.

Falcons president Rich McKay described the process as a “fan-first approach in gathering feedback and design input and have modernized the look of our team and our brand.” The team wanted to include black because it’s, “been a part of our organization since we took the field in 1966 so we’ve stayed true to our roots and have given our fans and players what they’ve been asking for over many years.”

The Falcons announced they will have up to eight different color combinations for their uniform choices. They will include the current throwback version paying homage to the 1966 team and a new “Rise Up” alternate uniform. They will have four jerseys (black home, white away, gradient alternate and the ‘66 throwbacks), four pants (black, white, red and throwbacks) and one helmet (satin black), according to the team website.
