Los Angeles Rams center Brian Allen is the first publicly confirmed case of Covid-19 in an NFL player. FOX Sports reporter Jay Glazer tweeted about it late Wednesday evening. This comes following word of at least one case in the Los Angeles Chargers front office, and New Orleans Saints head coach Sean Payton dealing with it in March.

Allen told Glazer he lost his sense of smell, to the point that he tried to sniff smelling salts and nothing happened. He said he then lost his sense of taste and could only feel texture in his mouth. He also got periodic sore throats, fatigue, headaches, and stiffness, and should be in the all clear as of Thursday this week.

There has not been enough testing in the country, so numerous people who have had the novel coronavirus do not know for sure if they’ve had it. Allen is the first confirmed NFL player, but it’s entirely possible other players have had it regardless of testing.
