Heading into his eighth season, Jaguars cornerback A.J. Bouye has been traded to the Denver Broncos for a 4th round pick according to Adam Schefter. Bouye started his career in Houston, but went to the Jaguars in 2017 after a strong 2016 season. The next two seasons with the Jaguars, Bouye shined, allowing no touchdowns and picking off seven passes.
2019 wasn’t as good for Bouye and the Jaguars pass defense as a whole, as he gave up a 103.8 QB Rating when targeted according to Pro Football Focus, by far the worst number of his career. But, at 28 years old, just one year removed from a good season, the Broncos might have gotten themselves a deal. Denver looks like they will lose Chris Harris to free agency, so grabbing help in the secondary is likely considered a pressing need.
Denver also has cap space and will probably be involved in plenty of transactions this off season, as they gear up for Drew Lock’s first full season as a starter. Who knows if Lock will live up to their expectations, but they like him and he looked decent to end last season. Add in that he’s cheap due to his rookie deal and the Broncos will try to build a a strong team around him in case he flourishes this year.
