The NFL free agency negotiation period opens at noon ET on Monday. Players can discuss deals with teams for the next two days and then start signing contracts on Wednesday at 4 p.m.
The wide receiver position features some talent, but a lot of questions. The Bengals just franchised A.J. Green, which pushes the overall talent level for free agency receivers down quite a bit. Amari Cooper is the player with the most intrigue, as the Cowboys haven’t gotten a deal done with him, but have used their franchise tag on Dak Prescott. Cooper is likely going to remain with the Cowboys but they’ll have to back up the Brinks truck.
With Green and likely Cooper off the radar for the most part, Emmanuel Sander, who would like to stay in San Francisco and Robby Anderson, look to be the top receivers with a good chance to hit the market. Anderson is someone a team should go after, but his market value is still fairly unknown.
Breshad Perriman played well enough to end last season that he might have built his resume up enough to score a decent payday, but it remains to be seen.
The Browns should keep Rashard Higgins, as he has a nice rapport with Baker Mayfield and Taylor Gabriel seems destined to return to Kyle Shanahan, but overall, this wide receiver free agency season looks like it will be fairly quiet.
