Some NFL draft visits cancelled due to coronavirus concerns, new league year still on track

Cancellations are coming in quickly for the whole sports world due to the spread of coronavirus, but the NFL isn’t currently bunching groups of people together as often as the NBA and college basketball. That doesn’t mean that NFL and team employees and draft prospects aren’t working and traveling.

The first official cancellations have been for a few future draftees, as Jordyn Brooks, Brandon Jones and Devin Duvernay have all had their team facility visits canceled according to Erik Burkhardt of Select Sports.

For now, the NFL has no plans on postponing the start of the season according to ESPN’s Adam Schefter, but teams are starting to pull scouts off the road, with the Jets making it that official. Teams are also considering shutting down their facilities.

News will likely continue to come in on teams shutting down operations for the foreseeable future. We’ll continue to update the news as it comes in.

UPDATE 3/12: NFL free agency is still on schedule to start next Wednesday (3/18). Team visits will likely be sparse, but there is likely enough information on players by now to give teams a good enough look at their future draft picks.

The Philadelphia Eagles have closed down Nova Care Complex and Lincoln Financial Field.

The NFL has canceled the owner’s meeting scheduled March 29 - April 1. The league plans on doing their business at the spring meeting, May 19-10.
