Raiders are poised to pursue quarterback Tom Brady if he doesn't re-sign with the Patriots before free agency begins, league sources told ESPN.https://t.co/rAloZCF2W1— Adam Schefter (@AdamSchefter) February 2, 2020
Obviously, it would be crazy to picture Brady in any other uniform other than the Patriots. Still, rumors have been swirling around Brady’s future in the NFL, whether he’ll opt to retire or go chase another championship — either in New England or elsewhere. The Raiders are trying to lure Brady out to Las Vegas in an attempt to contend in the AFC after failing to reach the playoffs again.
Assuming money isn’t an issue for either side, is there really any allure for Brady leaving the Pats to go to the Raiders and Jon Gruden? I would think not, but the Brown and even Dolphins have been rumored as a destination for Brady in some capacity, so I’d say anything is possible. Plus, how much does Brady even have left at this point?
The six-time Super Bowl champion QB is coming off a down season by his standards with the Pats and finally showed his age a bit. He clearly isn’t getting any better as he ages and the Raiders don’t exactly have the team to surround Brady and boost him. The Pats had offensive line issues for what seems to be the first time in two decades and look what happened. Las Vegas has some appealing offensive weapons in RB Josh Jacobs and TE Darren Waller, but it doesn’t appear to be the ideal surrounding team for a run at ring No. 7.
Right now, the betting line on where Brady will play next season is in favor of the Patriots at -230. The team with the second-best odds to land Brady? You guessed it, the Las Vegas Raiders at +200. Between you and me, I’d be surprised if Brady played anywhere but New England. The Chargers (+600) and even the Titans (+1000) have decent odds on landing Brady, which seems like a stretch.
