Report: Josh Gordon return to 53-man roster back on hold after setback

The Seahawks get another weapon for Russell Wilson headed into Week 16. We break down the fantasy football waiver wire implications.

Dec 23 update: Gordon has had a “setback” in his recovery and “had not satisfied the terms of his conditional reinstatement from suspension,” per Bob Condotta. He is allowed to attend team meetings and individual workouts, but he is ineligible to participate in practices or games, per Condotta.

The Seattle Seahawks have a solid pair of receivers in DK Metcalf and Tyler Lockett. Now, they get Josh Gordon back in the mix. The Seahawks officially activated Gordon to their 53-man roster following his reinstatement from a league suspension. He will be eligible to play in Week 16 when they host the Los Angeles Rams.

Gordon has not appeared in an NFL game since December 15, 2019 when he had a 58-yard reception against the Carolina Panthers. He had limited work in five weeks with the Seahawks after Seattle claimed him off waivers from the New England Patriots. He was subsequently suspended by the NFL after that December 15th performance.

He is currently rostered in 3.8 percent of ESPN leagues. While it is unclear how much we can expect of Gordon, it’s safe to say that roster percentage will climb after waivers runs early Wednesday morning. It’s not a good idea to start him on your fantasy football rosters in a championship game, but in keeper and dynasty leagues, there’s a little bit of speculative value.
