The New York Giants host the Cleveland Browns on Sunday Night Football in a critical matchup, and they’ll be short-handed due to Covid-19. Offensive coordinator Jason Garrett has tested positive for the virus and will be working remotely for the time being. Freddie Kitchens will be calling the plays on Sunday in his place, per Tom Pelissero.
Kitchens is currently the Giants tight end coach after coming over from the Browns. He was the Browns head coach in 2019 after serving as associate head coach and running backs coach and later offensive coordinator in 2018. The Browns offense improved from 32nd to 17th in efficiency that season.
The Giants offense currently ranks 28th in overall efficiency, rankings 7th in rushing and 31st in passing. Last week, the Giants lost to the Arizona Cardinals in Daniel Jones’ return from a hamstring injury. Jones injured his ankle in the loss and is limited in practice this week.
