The Las Vegas Raiders are the latest team to deal with a Covid-19 issue. Defensive tackle Maurice Hurst has been placed on the COVID/IR list, although it’s unclear if he tested positive or was in contact with a positive case. ESPN’s Dianna Russini is reporting one Raiders player has tested positive, but did not clarify if this was Hurst.
This puts the Raiders-Chiefs game in jeopardy this Sunday. If there are no other cases, the came could happen, but there is also the concern about the Chiefs previous opponent. Five days after Cam Newton tested positive for Covid-19, cornerback Stephon Gilmore has tested positive. Chiefs practice squad quarterback Jordan Ta’amu tested positive last weekend, but the team has had no other positive cases.
It will take at least a couple days before we know the status of Raiders-Chiefs as we wait for subsequent testing and contact tracing to be completed.
