The Denver Broncos will host the Los Angeles Chargers in Week 8 as both teams look to avoid falling into the cellar of the AFC West. Both teams enter Sunday with a 2-4 record. The Chargers have some momentum though after scoring 17 unanswered points to beat the Jaguars 39-20 last Sunday. It was the first NFL win for rookie quarterback Justin Herbert, who threw for 347 yards and a touchdown and also ran for 66 yards and a TD.

The Broncos saw their two-game losing streak get snapped by the Kansas City Chiefs in an ugly 43-16 loss. Second-year quarterback Drew Lock is struggling right now, throwing four interceptions and completing just 53 percent of his passes over the last two weeks. This will be Denver’s first of two matchups against the Chargers this season.

Here’s how to watch the game, odds for the matchup, key injuries, and notable fantasy football start/sit considerations.

Fantasy football start/sit advice

Chargers

Joshua Kelley, RB, $4,900

With Austin Ekeler out for a while, Kelly is the guy the Chargers are leaning on to lead their running back. Still, he hasn’t been very productive, logging just 29 rushing yards in each of the last two weeks. He’s not much of a receiving threat either, so until his numbers improve, he’s probably not worth a start.

Keenan Allen, WR, $6,200

With almost twice as many yards as the Chargers’ next receiver, Allen is the only one in LA’s receiving corps that you can feel comfortable starting. He’s also coming off his best game of the season with Justin Herbert, catching 10 passes for 125 yards against the Jaguars.

Broncos

Melvin Gordon III, RB, $5,600

Gordon returned from injury and was productive aside from his fumbles, with 17 carries for 68 yards and a touchdown. Phillip Lindsay gets a healthy amount of touches too, but Gordon has more value because of his role in the red zone with three touchdowns over his past two games. Lindsay doesn’t have any all season and could miss this week’s game due to a concussion he suffered last Sunday.

Tim Patrick, WR, $4,700

The Broncos have spent a lot of draft picks on skill positions lately. Ironically, it’s a former undrafted free agent who’s their top target right now. He leads Denver in catches and receiving yards and has topped the 100-yard mark in two of his last three games. The Chargers’ pass defense ranks near the bottom of the league, making Patrick an interesting option this week.
