Patriots bench Cam Newton, move Jarrett Stidham into starting lineup

The Patriots are struggling in Week 7 and decided to make a QB change for the rest of the game.

The New England Patriots are making a quarterback change in Week 7. The team benched Cam Newton for Jarrett Stidham after a brutal three quarters of football. Newton completed 9 fo 15 passes, but had only 98 yards and three interceptions. The Patriots trailed the 49ers 30-6 at the time of the benching.

This marks Stidham’s second appearance of the 2020 season. In Week 4, Stidham came on after Brian Hoyer was ineffective against the Kansas City Chiefs. Stidham completed 5 of 13 passes for 60 yards with a touchdown and three interceptions in the loss.
