How to watch, what to watch for Panthers vs. Saints in Week 7

The Panthers and Saints face off in Week 7 of the 2020 NFL season. We break down how to watch the game, odds for the matchup, key injuries, and notable fantasy football start/sit considerations.

New Orleans Saints quarterback Taysom Hill (7) celebrates with wide receiver Michael Thomas (13) after scoring a touchdown against the Minnesota Vikings during the fourth quarter of a NFC Wild Card playoff football game at the Mercedes-Benz Superdome.  Chuck Cook -USA TODAY Sports

The New Orleans Saints welcome the Carolina Panthers to the the Superdome this week. The NFC East foes both have three wins with the Saints coming off back-to-back wins and the Panthers are hot off a loss to the Bears.

The Panthers were forced to move part of their preparation to remote work after a positive COVID-19 test early in the week. They need all the prep time they can get after the loss to the Bears. The offensive line did a miserable job of protecting Teddy Bridgewater. He was running for his life against a stellar Bears defense. The offense will need a more stable performance from the o-line for both Bridgewater’s sanity and Mike Davis’ production.

In their win over the LA Chargers, the Saints had some things to improve on. The offense was decent enough despite working against itself switching out Taysom Hill in strange situations. His ability to change the game still exists, but it feels like Sean Payton forces the issue far too much.

Fantasy football start/sit advice

Panthers

Robby Anderson, WR, $6,000

Robby had a really solid game in the Panthers loss to the Bears. Four catches for 77 yards and five targets. He should find more success against the Saints assuming the Panthers can give Teddy Bridgewater a bit more time to throw.

Mike Davis, RB, $6,600

Like I mentioned before, the offensive line gave Davis no holes to run through against the Bears. I expect a much better performance from the line that gives Davis more chances for success.

Saints

Drew Brees, QB, $6,100

How Drew Brees attacks the defense is still stellar. There were moments in recent weeks wherein Brees’ efforts downfield haven’t looked as solid. In their win against the Chargers, Brees looked excellent. He was forced to throw the ball much more being down 17, and looked great doing so. It was a classic Brees performance and encouraging for fantasy owners.

Latavius Murray, RB, $4,800

Murray has been a consistent part of the Saints offense this year. If you’re looking for someone on the Saints that’s a good value, Murray is your man. The Panthers love to give up fantasy points to opposing running backs, the second most in the league to be specific. Murray is a worth a shot at a FLEX spot.
