Tua Tagovailoa to make decision about NFL Draft on Monday, January 6th

Alabama quarterback Tua Tagovailoa has a decision to make about the 2020 NFL Draft and expects to make it within the next week.

Alabama quarterback Tua Tagovailoa announced on Wednesday via Twitter that he’ll be making a decision on the 6th. While technically this leaves a lot of details unclear, we can probably assume he means his decision about whether or not to enter the 2020 NFL Draft, and he means next Monday January 6th. We might as well at least make sure we’re all on the same page!

Tagovailoa dislocated his hip on November 16th, and has been in the rehab process since surgery. He was walking with a single crutch on Wednesday during Alabama’s 35-16 win over Michigan in the VRBO Citrus Bowl.

There has been some speculation Tagovailoa might consider a return to Alabama for a chance to rehab and be the top pick in the 2021 NFL Draft. He was going to be in the mix with LSU quarterback Joe Burrow for that spot in 2020, but his hip injury changed that. He still has a shot at being a top ten or even top five pick with teams like the Dolphins, Chargers, and potentially Jaguars and Lions among the teams looking to invest serious draft capital in the quarterback position.

Underclassmen have until January 20th to submit the paperwork to enter the 2020 NFL Draft. Given Alabama’s season is officially over, there is no reason for Tagovailoa to drag this out much further.
