Lamar Jackson, Hollywood Brown off to monster fantasy start

The Dolphins stink, but props to Lamar Jackson and Hollywood Brown, who are off to big starts in Week 1.

Editor’s update: Jackson finished the game with 324 passing yards and five touchdowns. He rushed three times for six yards. Brown finished the game with 147 yards and the two touchdowns. Not too shabby for Week 1!

The 2019 NFL season is just barely underway, and we have our first big fantasy football story. Baltimore Ravens quarterback Lamar Jackson is on fire in the team’s opener against the Miami Dolphins. Early in the second quarter, the Ravens lead 28-0, and Jackson has completed all seven of his passes for 196 yards and three touchdowns.

One initial question is how much of this is Jackson and how much is it a bad Dolphins team. Miami was expected to be awful, but the defense was not expected to be quite as bad as the offense. It’s still not the stiffest of tests, but Jackson has been spot-on with his passes.

The big recipient has been Marquise Brown. The man nicknamed Hollywood has three receptions for 144 yards and two touchdowns. He had two huge catch-and-run plays that saw Jackson place the ball well. Brown broke through some hands and was able to take it to the house for 47 yards and 83 yards on his two scores.

It’s way too early to make any definitive conclusions, but it’s hard not to be excited about what Jackson and Brown have put together out of the gate.
