The Buffalo Bills will not have wide receiver and kick return specialist Andre Roberts suited up on the field this week for a divisional showdown against the New York Jets. Roberts is dealing with a quad injury. He was ruled out on Friday.

Roberts returned 40 kicks for the Jets last season, leading the NFL with 1,147 kick return yards and scoring one touchdown. On 23 punts, he averaged 14.1 yards per return, again tops in the league. That earned him an All-Pro nod. The Jets were unable to re-sign him in free agency this spring, and Buffalo swooped in with a two-year contract worth up to $4.6 million. He said during the offseason that he was looking forward to getting some revenge against his former team. Now, he’ll have to wait until the last week of the regular season.

Because he’s always a threat to break off a big run on a return, Roberts brings even more fantasy value to the Bills DST. But you’re not adding him to contribute as a wide receiver.

Fantasy impact: Even without Roberts, the Bills defense makes Buffalo a decent DST option with what should still be a favorable matchup against the Jets.
