Two of the best teams in football over the past decade will meet to kickoff the season, but the Steelers may have made more meaningful changes since their 2018 matchup, a 17-10 win for Pittsburgh in Week 15. Primarily, they traded star receiver Antonio Brown to the Raiders, leaving young star JuJu Smith-Schuster to be the top option in the passing game. Le’Veon Bell is officially gone as well, signing with the Jets. But don’t worry, 2018 fill-in James Conner is back after totaling 1,470 yards and 13 touchdowns in just 13 games. Pittsburgh’s offense may be fine after losing two of their stars, and they may have added one on the defensive side via the draft in Devin Bush.

The Patriots continue to operate at another level, but this will be the first time in 10 years that they will take the field without Hall of Fame TE Rob Gronkowski, who retired after winning the Super Bowl in February. However, it may be a bigger loss in the run game than anything, as he posted his lowest per-game receiving numbers since his rookie year. The cupboard is still full in New England with Josh Gordon returning, and additions of both N’Keal Harry and Demaryius Thomas. The only question is how good can Tom Brady be going into his age 42 season, his 20th in the league.
