3 bad quarterback options in Week 1 DFS

The NFL regular season is upon us, and with the NFL season comes the season for daily fantasy football lineups. If you’re a daily fantasy player, you know that a successful lineup has to have a solid combination of big-name star power players that are known commodities with a few high-upside players that provide a little more bang for your buck.

The problem is, you can play for “value” hoping for a diamond in the rough, only to get a dud. If you wind up with a quarterback who has a stinker of a game in your daily lineup, it can sink your entire team.

So here are three quarterbacks from the early Sunday kickoffs that are the least likely to produce the solid performances for Week 1. (Values from Draft Kings.)

Josh Allen (BUF) - $5,600

Allen has a cannon of an arm, that part cannot be denied. The questions are three-fold: 1) Can he accurately deliver the ball on a consistent basis? 2) Does he have the talent around him to consistently make the necessary catches? and 3) Will the offensive line hold up long enough for Allen to make the right decisions? Until proven otherwise, avoid Allen at all costs.

Andy Dalton (CIN) - $5,000

With A.J. Green out for the foreseeable future, the Bengals offense will already have its hiccups, despite talented players like Joe Mixon and Tyler Boyd. The big problem here this week is the matchup. The Seattle Seahawks look to still have an above-average defense in 2019, and it should only get better after the trade for Jadeveon Clowney. This is not a good matchup for any Bengal in Week 1.

Dak Prescott (DAL) - $5,900

This one might be surprising, especially considering the return of Jason Witten, the acquisition of Randall Cobb, and the presence of Amari Cooper, but I’m avoiding Dak Prescott this week. Ezekiel Elliott has return and is likely ready to go against the Giants, and a positive game script likely involves the Cowboys running out the clock. 2nd and goal on the 1? Give the ball to Zeke. 3rd and 3 late with a lead? Give the ball to Zeke. This game isn’t likely to be a shootout, and the Cowboys won’t need to rely on Dak Prescott to win them this game.
