Complete list of opponents for the Denver Broncos in 2020

The Denver Broncos haven’t put together a decent season since they won the Super Bowl in 2016 and are trying still trying to rebound following the departure of Peyton Manning. The quarterback position was a big problem for Denver from the start of the season but they appear to have some idea about what they wants to do under center long term. Whether that plan works out remains to be seen.

The Broncos traded to acquire Joe Flacco ahead of the 2019 season in hopes the veteran could keep the team afloat after losing a job to Lamar Jackson in Baltimore. But that wasn’t the case. Flacco floundered until the job was taken by rookie Drew Lock, who just might be “the guy,” according to head coach Vic Fangio. But Denver will need to take a few necessary steps to make the young signal caller last.

Offseason Needs

Denver’s offensive line has the seventh-highest adjusted sack rate (8.4%) in the NFL this year, according to Football Outsiders. That’s just not optimal for an inexperienced quarterback. Yet Lock has managed to go 4-1 as a starter, throwing for 1,020 yards and seven touchdowns. His powerful arm, strong decision making, and ability to throw receivers open will only improve with better protection.

Another thing the Broncos need to add is a downfield threat at receiver. His anticipation skills are wasted without a speedster that can get in behind secondaries to break off big plays. Courtland Sutton had a breakout season, but with the trade of Emmanuel Sanders, Denver needs more pass catchers.

2020 opponents

The 2019 NFL season is coming to a close and while the playoffs are just arriving, it’s time to start looking ahead to 2020. We won’t know the full regular season schedule until April, but even with the 2019 season not finished, we know each team’s list of opponents. The NFL has a formula they use to determine opponents, with divisions and conferences rotating each year.

The Broncos face their divisional opponents a total of six times. The AFC West faces the NFC South, which adds four more opponents. The AFC West faces the AFC East, which adds four more opponents. The final two opponents are the teams that finish in the same standing position in the AFC South and AFC North.
