The Buffalo Bills edged out the Pittsburgh Steelers 17-10 on Sunday Night Football, and in doing so clinched a wild card berth with a 10-4 record. Buffalo remains one game back of the New England Patriots in the AFC East with a huge matchup coming up at Gillette Stadium this Saturday. The Steelers drop to 8-6 with the loss and are now tied with the Tennessee Titans for the second wild card berth. Pittsburgh has the conference tiebreaker for now.
It wasn’t a pretty game to close out Week 15 Sunday, but the Bills got the job done if barely. The Steelers had two drives deep into Bills territory late in the fourth quarter, but in both instances, Buffalo made key interceptions in the end zone to stop Pittsburgh. Their defense picked off Devlin Hodges four times, including a game-clincher in the end zone with six seconds left.
It was an ugly night of turnovers across the board with a combined six turnovers. On top of Hodges’ performance, Steelers wide receiver Diontae Johnson lost a fumble, Josh Allen threw an interception, and Bills running back Devin Singletary lost one of his two fumbles.
Singletary and wide receiver John Brown sparked what little there was of the Bills offense. Brown caught seven passes for 99 yards and Singletary rushed for 87 yards on 21 carries. Josh Allen scored the Bills first touchdown on a short scramble and Tyler Kroft caught the other touchdown, a 14-yard score.
