The Green Bay Packers haven’t been setting the world on fire but they are almost guaranteed a playoff spot. There are a few very unlikely scenarios that leave them out but the all rely on them losing their last three games to the Bears, Vikings and Detroit. If they can’t win the last game of the season against Detroit with the playoffs on the line, well, I think Matt LaFleur gets a very bad grade on his final project.
The Bears have played well of late and boosted their chances to get into the playoffs but they are still long odds. They can win their last three games against the Packers, Chiefs and Vikings and still miss the playoffs, but that is what they need to have any chance to get in.
This game is important to both teams, as the Vikings and Packers are still vying for the NFC North championship but the Bears need the win or they are eliminated. If the Packers win, they clinch a playoff spot but still will need to hold off the Vikings for the division.
Green Bay currently has a bye as the No. 2 seed over the Saints after their loss to the 49ers. If they win out, they keep that lead and the bye and have a chance to move up to the No. 1 seed and home field throughout the playoffs if the 49ers slip. Their toughest game will be in Minnesota next week, but the Bears are playing well enough that they could be a challenge at home.
