The Cleveland Browns lost a tough one to the Pittsburgh Steelers in Week 13, and it might have just about ended Cleveland’s shot at a late playoff run. The Browns lost 20-13 and now sit two games back of the Steelers and Tennessee Titans for the second wild card berth. There are four weeks remaining, and it’s going to be a serious uphill climb for Cleveland.
The Browns jumped on top 10-0 and had all the momentum. However, they seemed to let the foot off the gas in the second quarter. A James Washington 30-yard score tied the game up heading into halftime. Baker Mayfield banged his thumb on a defender’s helmet late in the second quarter, and that seemed to slow him the rest of the way. He finished with 196 passing yards, one touchdown, and one interception.
Washington was the offensive start of the game, with 111 yards to go with his touchdown. The Steelers pass rush made things happen on the other side of the ball, sacking Mayfield five times. Nick Chubb and Kareem Hunt were solid enough, combining for 104 yards, but it was not enough to get the offense where it needed to go.
The 7-5 Steelers travel to face the Arizona Cardinals in Week 14. The 5-7 Browns host the Cincinnati Bengals.
