The Kansas City Chiefs faced the Los Angeles Chargers in Mexico City on Monday Night Football and got a much needed victory. The Chiefs won 24-17, taking advantage of numerous Philip Rivers miscues. The Chiefs head into their bye week to recover from some injuries, but they have the edge in the division.
The Chiefs entered the night 6-4 and tied with the surging Oakland Raiders. A Chiefs loss would have dropped them a half game back of Oakland, but with the win they move a half game up after the Raiders Sunday over the Bengals. The Chiefs head into their bye week now while the Raiders travel to face the New York Jets in Week 12. The Raiders are rightfully favored in that game, and if they win, we’ll have a tie atop the AFC West.
Kansas City holds the tiebreaker edge for now have beaten the Raiders 28-10 in Oakland back in Week 2. The two teams square off again in Week 13. Considering Andy Reid’s strong record coming off the bye, KC is in prime position to take firm hold of the division. If they can sweep the Raiders, their one-game lead will effectively be two games thanks to the head-to-head tiebreaker.
Heading into Week 12, the Chiefs sit in the third spot, a half game up on the Indianapolis Colts. The Colts face the Texans with the winner taking the lead in the AFC South. The Chiefs lost to both teams earlier this year, so the winner of that game will get the three seed for now, while the Chiefs will be back in the fourth sot. The 9-1 New England Patriots and 8-2 Baltimore Ravens hold the top two spots coming out of Week 11.
