One year ago today, Washington quarterback Alex Smith suffered a devastating leg injury on the football field. He was carted off and has undergone multiple surgeries, and has spent the past year going through an extensive rehab process.

It remains to be seen whether Smith will ever play football again, but he is putting in the work to try and make it happen. Smith’s wife Elizabeth posted this video which is a collection of pictures and video from the past year. It shows Smith from when he left the field, underwent surgery, left the hospital, and then went through the rehab.

Smith has a long way to go if he ever wants to return to playing football, but he’s always shown the kind of fight needed to make his way back. This video shows just a little bit of it and is worth a watch.
