The NFL is expected to hand out fines to approximately ten players involved in the brawl on Week 11 Thursday Night Football, according to ESPN’s Adam Schefter. Steelers quarterback Mason Rudolph is among those expected to be fined, with $35,096 the amount scheduled for a first time fighting offense. Other fines will be for players coming off the sideline to join in the brawl.
Rudolph and Browns edge rusher Myles Garrett got into a fracas with seconds remaining in Thursday’s game. On a late pass, Garrett attempted to take down Rudolph at the end of the play. Rudolph took exception to it and started trying to pull off Garrett’s helmet and taking some other shots at him. They were separated, but Larry Ogunjobi shoved Rudolph and Garrett then yanked off Rudolph’s helmet. He swung at and hit Rudolph with the helmet and further chaos ensued, including Maurkice Pouncey kicking Garrett in the head while the latter was on the ground.
Garrett is suspended indefinitely through at least the rest of the season, Ogunjobi was suspended one game, and Pouncey was suspended three games. All three are expected to appeal their punishments.
