The NFC West is on display to open Week 9, with the Arizona Cardinals hosting the San Francisco 49ers on Thursday Night Football. The 49ers come into the game having thumped the Carolina Panthers in Week 8 to improve to 7-0. The Cardinals were blown out by Drew Brees and the New Orleans Saints to snap a three-game win streak and drop to 3-4-1.
The 49ers are big road favorites in this one, laying ten points at DraftKings Sportsbook, with the point total sitting at 43. The 49ers were a ten point favorite on the road against Washington earlier this year, but came up short of covering in a 9-0 win. Prior to that, the last time they were a double digit favorite was 2014 when they lost to the then St. Louis Rams as 10.5-point favorites.
The big player news heading into this game is the Cardinals trade for running back Kenyan Drake. David Johnson and Chase Edmonds are both expected to miss the game, and Drake is likely to start and get significant work 72 hours after joining his new team. That will certainly be something to track for fantasy football owners!
