Bengals lose, Tank for Tua heads into Week 8 MNF spotlight

The Miami Dolphins are under the prime time lights to close out Week 8. We break down what that game will mean for 2020 NFL Draft order heading into Week 9.

The NFL wraps up Week 8 on Monday evening with a huge matchup ... for draft order implications. The Miami Dolphins are in the process of tanking for high draft picks, and they travel to face the Pittsburgh Steelers on Monday Night Football. Miami gains the most by losing this game, but a win would not be an entirely awful. They also own the Steelers first round pick this year!

This is technically a winnable game for the Dolphins, but they’ve shown nothing to indicate they can win games against even bad teams around the league. Instead, this is all building to their Week 16 home game against the Cincinnati Bengals. The Bengals lost to the Los Angeles Rams in London to drop to 0-8. The Bengals have a bye and there’s a good chance they’ll be even-steven with the Dolphins when Week 10 dawns.

Washington, the Atlanta Falcons, and the New York Jets are all hanging around in the battle for the bottom. All three lost, and none looked particularly good in doing so. Washington hosts the Jets in Week 11, which should create a little bit of clarity in the short term.

The battle for the No. 1 pick in the 2020 NFL Draft continues in Week 9 with a pretty big matchup. The New York Jets host the Miami Dolphins, and more than likely it will hurt the Jets chances at a top five pick. The Jets are a 5.5-point road favorite in this one, which amuses me to no end considering the Jets own problems. Washington travels to face Buffalo, while Cincinnati and Atlanta are on bye.

Here is a rundown of the top ten in the 2020 NFL Draft order, courtesy of Tankathon. We’re including winless, one-win, and two-win teams for the time being. We’ll probably have to wait until late November before we start dropping two-win teams from this group.
